If you're an online marketer and own a website, you know the key to making sales is getting more traffic to your website. You also know all web site traffic is not created equal. You not only need lots of web traffic, you need lots of targeted traffic. That's the key and once you have it, your sales will increase exponentially.
The best way to get targeted website traffic is to use Pay-per-Click (PPC) services such as Google AdWords, or Yahoo or a host of other pay services. You also need to know what you're doing or you could find yourself spending lots of money, getting poor results and losing money very quickly. Also, when you're first starting out, you have a limited budget, and starting with PPC campaigns may not even be an option for you at this point in time.
That's where free traffic exchanges come in. Free traffic exchanges can be a great way to get traffic to your website. You should also know there's really no such thing as free because you must spend your time surfing through other websites to earn credits. Free traffic exchanges are a great way to get lots of visitors to your site however, so spending an hour a day surfing, is not a lot to ask if you're making sales from your efforts. And isn't this why your in this business to begin with?
Free traffic exchanges are a great marketing tool for a many reasons. The best reason is that you get lots of people looking, and hopefully clicking on your website or promotional pages. But there are hidden benefits to free traffic exchanges you may not have even considered.
Search engines love free traffic exchanges because of all the incoming and outgoing links they generate. Plus the rapidly changing content is another reason the search engines love traffic exchanges. Exchanges that have more content also generate a higher page rank, and therefore more traffic, and increased memberships. The key is to find exchanges that are very active and have lots of members. The more members they have, the more potential customers you get looking at your offer and your chances for sales conversions are that much better. But bigger isn't always better.
Some free traffic exchanges may do very well for one marketer, and be a complete waste of time for another. If everyone were promoting the same website or affiliate program in the same traffic exchange for example, then chances are you would not make many sales. Even if you were promoting the best product or service on the internet, if everyone promoted the same thing, your chances of someone purchasing through your website or links, are slim to none. Also, when people see the same ad over and over again, they get desensitized to it. Don't fall into this trap. It's one thing to try and sell a very popular product/service/ebook etc, but it's another thing when a million other people are trying to do it too. Competition is a good thing, because it validates your market, but too much competition is tough and it's time to move on to something else.
We all know clicking on ads in a free traffic exchange can be very boring, monotonous and can take a lot of time. That's why you need to make the best of your opportunity or you will just be wasting a lot of your time and effort on something that just isn't working. If you have your own niche website, then you already differentiated yourself from the pack. If you are an affiliate marketer, then you need to find products/services that everyone else isn't promoting, especially within that particular traffic exchange.
One way to use free traffic exchanges to your advantage is to join a few at first, and see if your sales pick up. If your sales aren't doing well, then test out a few more. When you do find a few traffic exchanges that appear to be generating sales for you, then narrow those down until you find the one, or two that are working. Now concentrate your efforts on those because they're the ones you want. At least for now anyway. Things may change, so keep an eye on your campaigns and if sales seem to be falling off, then it might be time to change your offer or find another traffic exchange that could pick your profits up again.
As I mentioned, your individual promotion is everything. If you're trying to promote something everyone else is, I don't care what traffic exchange service you're using, your sales conversions are going to be very low, or nothing at all. You cannot always blame the exchange. Sometimes you have to look at yourself and think if you're doing all you can to make sales.
If you're going to use multiple free traffic exchanges, and I recommend that you do, you should get yourself a multi-tab web browser. Many of these browsers are free and run on PCs and MACs. The tabs feature allows you to have one web browser open with multiple tabs each going to a separate website. You could easily put 5 or 6 of your free exchange sites in these tabs, and earn credits for all of them at the same time. So instead of surfing for 1/2 an hour or an hour earning 200 hits for one exchange, you could earn 200 hits for 5 exchanges in the same amount of time. This is a huge time saver and multiplies your earned hits by 5X or 6X.
Getting free traffic to your website can be a lot of work. If you don't have the money to spend on full blown PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns like Google AdWords or Yahoo, free traffic exchanges are a great way to get the traffic you need, for Free!

Optimize your website for search engines
How to Optimize my website for Google
Optimizing your website for Google is not a hard task but it requires you to learn how to filter the noise, the incorrect advices some Bloggers give and the wild guesses of those who never managed to rank well in google search.
Almost all my articles come in the top 10 results in Google when someone searches about a related keyword and that's why i am writing about this topic.
Search engine optimization is easy but people are finding it hard because they are usually mislead by uninformed people.
What to do to optimize your website for Google
What Google itself said is that there are hundreds of parameters that are used to determine a site overall ranking so if someone claimed they he knows the ins and outs of Google's algorithm then he is lying.
What I am sure of is that there are certain parameters that are well known and that are given a very high weight by Google in such a way that if you correctly used them your page will come up first.
1) The first thing you need to put in mind is to target long tail keywords instead of very popular keywords because for the later, old and more authoritative websites will come before you in search results even if you are better optimized than them.
2) People always put emphasis on the title tag alone forgetting that the page URL is as important as the Title tag and even more important. Make sure both the URL and the title tag have the keywords you are targeting. The domain name is very important too , but since you already choose it you might not be able to do something about it now.
3) Google likes emphasis so make sure you have one bold keyword and one underlined keyword in each article if you can.
4) Make sure you user header tags and include the main keywords you are targeting inside them.
5) Link to that new page from different places on your site and use the main keywords the page is targeting in the anchor text you are using for the link
6) the main page of your site must contain the same keywords you are targeting throughout your site, this improves the ranking of your individual pages because it shows that the page doesn't have these keywords by accident but it has them because the whole site is targeting that topic.
Is this every thing?
No there are hundreds of other factors but using those ones alone you can make a page come up first in search engines.
Give it a try and contact me in case you need any help with optimizing your pages for Google.

Search Engine Optimization Marketing Backlink Answers
Search engine optimization marketing consists of backlinks which are one of the most important aspects to gaining importance in search engines and obtaining traffic. Backlinks are links on WebSites for your site pointing to your site. There are many variations but the basics are three kinds.
1. One way backlinks which is a link pointing to your site but you do not have a link on your site pointing to their site.
2. Two way or link trading where two websites trade links and each place a link on their site for the other site as part of theirsearch engine optimization marketing strategy. Generally a mini directory is created to display the links and keep them in an organized manner.
3. Three way links. These are mainly done by webmasters for a couple reasons which can be:
a. They have a WebSite they need links to point to but never set up a trade situation for that site which could be due to not wanting to place links on that site or it is only a sales page or they have such a great google ranking for the site that they do not want to risk affecting the google ranking negatively.
b. They prefer to use a junk site to point to your site whereas they want your site to point to their quality site. Review these very carefully as these can affect your search engine optimization marketing quite negatively if you end up with a 'banned' site pointing to your site or something similar.
Search engine optimization marketing strategies for your WebSite should include checking how may backlinks you have versus your competitors and you can do this easily by using the internet tool provided by the LinkPopularity website. This tool can be VERY valuable when planning your search engine optimization marketing. The reason for this is, the more websites that point to your site, the more important your WebSite is considered to be by search engines. Obviously if a WebSite placed a link to your site on their site, they must have considered your site to be an authority on the subject of your site and also important to them.
A manuever you can do using google itself to not only see how many backlinks a site has but also who is linking to the site is to go to the google search and enter in the following information. Pages: "the full url of the subject site". Make sure you use the pages and the : and the "'s as shown. You then will see every page having that URL on it. This system is always current whereas the LinkPopularity website may not have the most current information on it.
Search engine optimization marketing strategies which use backlinks as a way to build a WebSite traffic experience a slow growth as a rule as each backlink request is done to the WebSite which will place it on their site. Even though it is a slow process, the big benefit to the backlink such as this, is it will stay on the other WebSite as a rule, for the full life of that WebSite. The other benefit is that it doesn't have to cost anything and yes, over time, you will receive visitors from this backlink.
A big concern within the search engine optimization marketing involving your site is when 'trading' links for your WebSite. This can be a good practice and can affect your search engine rankings, however, there are two elements that should be evaluated to obtain quality search engine optimization marketing.
The quality of a link being placed on your WebSite should be judged based on content of the other WebSite and google rankings. A good motto is to never trade links with a WebSite with NO google ranking simply due to accidently trading links with a google banned site. By using the google toolbar, you can see the ranking for a site just by typing in the URL in your browser address bar and visiting the site. You want the ranking to be at least '0' up to '10'. When you use your cursor to 'run over' the bar showing the ranking, a line of text will come up showing the ranking for the site such as 2/10 or 3/10, etc. Google shows it's rankings this way as 10 is the best score that can be obtained and 0 is the lowest. If the site states it is not ranked by google, then their may be a reason such as banned or maybe simply just a brand new site.
Since this is an important factor, if you made your rule for your WebSite trading that the other site needs to have a 3/10 or better ranking, by also choosing the right content and sound search engine optimization marketing techniques, you can somewhat affect your own google ranking subject to the quality of your own WebSite.
When trading links, if you can choose sites with similar anchor links, it will benefit you greatly. An anchor link is the text showing available for 'clicking', etc. If you have to divert from this at all, then try to adhere to contents on other sites that use one or more of your keywords for your WebSite.
One last word of caution for planning your search engine optimization marketing, do not use link farms and do not set up an automatic exchange of links without reviewing the WebSite you will be placing a link for on your WebSite. Doing these things do not result in quality search engine optimization marketing because of many reasons. One is, of course, search engines will see you doing this and discount the value and quality of your WebSite. Another reason is that many of these consist of what is viewed as junk sites as they consist mostly of bad ranking and also they will not give you the benefit of checking for harmonious content.

Increase Traffic with a Web Development Company
If you find that your business just isn't generating enough traffic to your site then you need to consider hiring a web development company to help you with your endeavors. They will work in many ways to bring in long lasting customers from around the world.
Traffic is what the web is all about. The World Wide Web consists of over 20 million online businesses. This is a lot of competition, more than your local town. Competing on the web requires many things to happen if you want to be successful. There are most likely thousands of people searching every day for the products and services offered by your company. The goal needs to be to attract as many of these customers to your site as possible.
A web development company is going to work hard to build a site that works well with the search engines. The site will include integrated keywords that users are typing in when they are looking for the products and services offered. Good content doesn't just work well with search engines but it also is appealing and interesting to the users. A web development company knows all of the ways that search engines work. Content is not the only feature that will help a business.
If your ultimate goal is to generate traffic from other countries then you need to consider a site that is multi-lingual. A good web development company will have the ability to provide web pages in different languages also. The site should be appealing and adhere to ethics and values of other countries as well. They will know the symbols that are appropriate and which ones never to use because they may be offensive. People from other countries do not visit English speaking sites if they do not speak English. This eliminates millions of Internet users as customers if you cannot provide a site that is multi-lingual.
Traffic works in many ways. An online business owner wants a lot of traffic because they want as many sales as possible. Traffic also works by improving site rank on the web, which results in building credibility with users too. Users are more likely to feel safe to spend their money on a site with an excellent rank than a site that is listed without a rank at all. A web development company will work their best by increasing the traffic that comes to the site. The good news is the work a development company will do will last longer than a marketing firm.

Cheap Domain Names - Big money savings if you go with the little guy.
Cheap Domain Names - Big money savings if you go with the little guy.
If you've been in the market for a new domain name lately then you have probably seen the ads: cheap domain names, buy domain names cheap, cheap domain registration and the list goes on and on. With domain name registration ranging in price from $35 to $7.85 you may be wondering if you should register through one of the low cost domain registrars, like GoDaddy, or stick with one of the big boys, like Register.com. My advice is, "Go with the little guy." Here's why...
Cheap Domain Names vs. High Priced Domain Names
If you've ever registered a domain name before, you know that registering your domain is a simple process. You go to one of the many domain registration sites such as Register.com, GoDaddy or even mine, BuyCheap-DomainNames.com, and in the search box you type the domain name you are looking to buy. If it's available, then you enter your credit card number and you're done registering your domain name. That's it.
So, why on Earth does the price vary so wildly? One site charges $35 and the next site charges only $7.85? You might be asking yourself, "Is this for real?" You might be even thinking that the lower priced site might be some kind of scam. After all, you've heard of the bigger firm before and they charge $35, so how can this little company that you have never heard of before charge only $7.85? There must be something fishy here. Well, you're right. But it's not what you think.
The fact is, the big name companies are simply overcharging you to register a domain name. There is no real reason why their prices are so high...other than they know that they can still get away with it. But not for long. Although, there are still a lot of people out there that do not know that there are cheaper alternatives, or are afraid to try one of the cheap domain name firms, that situation is changing.
Register.com and friends know it, too. They have started running ads that claim that their registration service is better and warrants charging higher prices. Well, the fact is that the big boys don't offer better service. In fact, often the little guys give you more for your money. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself. Go to one of the big boy's sites to see what you get with each domain you register with them and then go to the little guy's sites. You'll see that you often get everything the big boy offers plus more goodies like a free email account or a free blog. And for a lot less money, too!
So, the next time you want to register the next great domain name that pops into your head, give the little guys a look. You might just find that cheap domain names are the way to go.

6 Tips For Choosing A Domain Name
For some, it is very difficult to choose a domain name for their website. Here are some important tips which will help them to choose a domain name.
1. If you have selected a name of your domain but found out that it is not available then don't be disappointed, try other extensions. That is if .com is not available for particular domain name then try .net, .biz etc.
2. Best domain names are supposed to be generic name like bikes.com, movies.com etc. But most of these are already registered. Add some names related to your market like buysalebike.com
3. Try adding "s" or "ies" like plural words into your domain name. It is possible that particular domain name may be booked in singular form and not in plural form.
4. Whenever feasible use your website title as your domain name. This may seem to be very obvious but in practice very few websites follows this method. You may add your name in your URL. This way your customer has no difficulty in finding you.
5. If you want to select between a short domain name and the domain name which is long in length then choose the short one. Since, it is very easy to remember the short word than a long word. But most probably the short domain name may be already taken by someone. Long words in your domain names, means that it may contain more keywords. We believed that some of the search engines use domain name's keyword as one of the criteria for their search.
6. If your website only appeals or deals with particular area or country then it is better idea to book your domain name with specific extension like .co.ca, .co.au etc. This will show the site's origin.

How To Choose A Website Host & Domain Name
This may come as a surprise: Some web site hosting services don't have software to help you build a site! Some that do, don't allow you to input HTML. You may want to add in small scripts that jazz up or protect your site such as 'No Right Click' or upload downloadable .exe files etc.
There are some great web site tools out there that you'll want to use! This article will give you things to look for when deciding on a host, domain or getting a better one than you have now.
1. Try them out q(^.^)p
A good hosting service will allow you to use their services for free for a limited time or at least a demo. If they don't have either, hah, get out of there. You need to check out the graphics, templates etc. Do you like them?
If you don't like what they have you'll find yourself spending time searching and finally buying templates and graphics from someone else. Try them out first.
Do they offer one of those fancy splash or flash pages? Not a real necessity but hey, I want one. Some are great and some not. Do they suit the real me :) Check out their collection of bells and whistles. Good for impressing your friends and visitors.
Those templates, graphics, splash pages, bells and whistles let your site give you professionalism, but can you completely change the look of your site with one or two clicks?
2. Ask dumb questions (@_@)
When you consider joining any web hosting service that allows you to use their state of the art web page building services, you are going to have questions!
There is nothing more frustrating than being in a hungry hurry to get your web site together and not being able to do it. This, will waste your late nights and weekends in a big way.
Make sure the service is quick and friendly to answer your questions, no matter how silly they may seem.
As easy as user friendly software is, it's sometimes difficult to understand at first, (bit like, "Where's the salt? "In front of you・. For example I wanted to upload an .exe file and the software told me I couldn't (like most free hosting services do). I questioned my host and found that I was uploading in the wrong place :)
If you are like me, you are going to have great questions and some real hah hah funny ones. You need a hosting service that will treat each question equally and give you the exact easy steps to follow. You don't want high tech jargon or inadequacy to add to the problem.
Until you get a good hold of how every great thing works you will have a lot of questions I'm sure. Good customer service is a must. Try them by asking a question, even a silly one :)
3. Traffic to your site (^^ゞ (^^ゞ
Without traffic to your great site, especially a business site, you won't have much joy. A bit like wetting your self in a wet suit, feels nice and warm to you but nobody notices :)
Does the web hosting service offer ways to get traffic to your website? Or are they letting you wonder off in search of paying some other service to provide you with traffic? It's easier to have everything in the same place.
4. Get a good domain -(^.^)/
What's in a name?
The shorter the domain name the more valuable. A domain name that is easy to remember is easy to find. A domain name that won't be misspelled helps. A good domain name should reflect the contents of the site or be of a general non restricting nature.
Domain names are property. You may want to sell it one day.
Some domain name registering services only register domain names and don't have a hosting service. This means you will have to move your domain to a domain hosting service. This takes time and is a waste of your time. You are better off buying your domain name from your hosting service.
According to a new report from Verisign, 4.6 million new domain names were registered in the second quarter of 2004, representing a 2.5 percent growth over the first quarter, 2004. In all, worldwide domain name registrations reached a peak of 64.5 million domain names, a 7 percent increase over end of year 2003.
The domain name rush is on.
5. What's in a host (?_?)
Choosing a hosting service is like getting a present, the wrapping and the size are not often much of an indication of what's inside. Which would you prefer: (A) Giving someone $100 to buy you a present or (B) Taking $100 and choosing your own present?
I prefer to know what I'm getting! This is why I recommend getting a hosting service that will give you a no obligation trial period. A trial period that gives you full use of their service without any tool, template etc, limitations.
6. How to get your monthly hosting for free ($_$)
You may also be surprised to hear that I don't pay my hosting service!
They pay me, each month. I prefer it that way and I'm sure you will too.
If possible, I only use services that have an affiliate program. This meaning that if I introduce a couple of friends to the service I can get it for free or eventually have the hosting service send me money each month. I'm sure you'd also like that possibility.
In conclusion, there are many places to where you can buy a domain name, let's get a good short one. Building your website can be heaven or hell so go with a company that has the tools to let you do it easily and with customer service to answer all your questions quickly. Be sure they have a system to supply your site with traffic, lots of visitors. Be sure to try their web site building tools before they bill you.
If you enjoy your hosting service and feel them worthy of introduction to your friends then the hosting service may become your bank accounts best friend. Read on:

Website building - start with an expired domain
Are you thinking about creating a website? In this article I hope to shed some light on making it a little easier for you by using an expired domain.
There are three main steps to creating a successful website:
1 - pick a domain name for your website
2 - build a website
3 - promote the website to receive visitors
These 3 steps get harder as you go along - picking a domain name can be relatively straight forward. Building a website, or getting one built for you, is no easy task, but with perseverance your website will get built. The third step of promotion is the hardest - your website will be competing with thousands, if not millions, of other websites to attract visitors, and new competition will be continually popping up. When you consider that there are millions of websites out there, but only a small percentage of these get a decent number of visitors, you will begin to understand the difficulty of promotion.
Rather than diving straight in and registering a domain, take some time to consider the overall goal - getting visitors to your new website. With this in mind, you can begin your choice of domain name.
Consider these two facts:
1 - when a domain name is registered, it is only registered for a set period. If the domain registration isn't renewed before the end of this period, then the domain will expire and become available for registration again.
2 - millions of people have created websites before you - they have registered a domain, built a website, and promoted it so that they started receiving visitors - and in some cases receive quite a lot of visitors.
Bearing these two facts in mind, you may not be surprised to learn that, for whatever reason, domains of some successful websites are allowed to expire. This means that the domain has become available for registration again to anyone clever enough to see the domains potential - the domain will still be receiving visitors even though it is no longer registered. Anyone that tries to visit this domain will get an error page saying that the website cannot be found - but if you were to register the domain, and place your website on it, then your website will be receiving these visitors!
Unfortunately, finding expiring domain names that will supply visitors to your website isn't an easy task. But there are several websites offering services that can help you. One worth looking at is DomDat.com that lists thousands of domains that are about to expire and information on each expiring domain - information includes the number of other websites linking to that domain (more links = more visitors), how search engines rank that domain, what the underlying websites were originally about, etc.

Rewarding Expired Domains
Reap the rewards from other people's hard work. Often a difficult goal, but this is exactly what you can achieve with expired domains.
Broadly speaking, the life cycle of an expired domain has been:
1 - the domain is registered
2 - a website is built on the domain
3 - the domain is promoted
4 - the domain receives visitors
5 - the domain is not re-registered and the domain expires
Once the domain expires, visitors will still arrive at the domain, only to see that there is no website there any longer. These visitors could be visiting your website.
A lot of effort goes into building a website. And as any web site owner will tell you, getting visitors to your site is a long hard struggle. But if you can register a domain that already receives visitors, this gives you valuable a head start.
Finding one of these visited expired domains can be tricky, and then actually registering them before anyone else manages to can be even harder. There are several websites that specialize in grabbing these domains on your behalf, and some list the domains that are about to expire in the next few days. You can go through this list of domains, and find any with names that seem relevant to your chosen topic.
With this shortened list of domains, you can then conduct research into each domain. The most important thing to check is to see how many backlinks they have - ie how many websites link to each domain. On many search engines, using the phrase "link:" (note the colon) before the full domain URL will return the number of links pointing at a given domain. For example, type in something like link:http://www.domain.com (note that in most cases you shouldn't use any spaces). In general, the more backlinks there are, the more visitors the domain will receive.
There are several other checks that can be carried out on a domain, but finding the number of backlinks is generally the most important.
Once you have found a domain you like, you then need to register it the moment it becomes available - before anyone else does. I would strongly recommend using one of the many websites that offer this service - they have the know-how and beating them to the registration could be a hard task. Also, some of these services have exclusive rights to re-register the domain before anyone else so it may not be possible to grab the domain by yourself.
Your next step should be to check out the different services, and see if any of them have exclusivity on your chosen domain. If none of them do, then chose the services you like the look of and get them all to chase the domain on your behalf. Most of these services will only charge you if they manage to get the domain on your behalf.
You may need to go through this process several times before you successfully register an expired domain that matches your criteria. As you can imagine this may take up a lot of your time.
I can recommend using another service in this field - there are several website out there that can carry out the legwork for you. They list the domains that are about to expire, along with the number of backlinks, and search engine rankings. The website DomDat.com also contains details on the domains previous, and which domain grabbing service has exclusivity over the domain. They are well worth taking a look at.

Uses of an expired domain
Expired domains can provide a lucrative ongoing income. Before you register an expired domain you need to consider what uses you can make from it to maximize your revenue.
To explain, expired domains come about as domains are only registered for a certain period. If the domain isn't renewed, then it will expire. Many expired domains have had a lot of time and effort spent on promoting them, so there are obvious benefits to be gained by re-registering an expired domain, such as ongoing visitor numbers.
Most passive revenue gained from an expired domain could come from advertising. It is worth noting that different adverts can pay different rates. For example, a financial services advert would normally pay more for a click-through than an advert for cooking recipes.
The more visitors your domain receives, the more clicks your adverts are likely to receive. So it is important to consider the number of links pointing to the domain, and the domains rankings in the top search engines. The more links and higher ranking, then the more visitors the domain is likely to receive.
There are websites out there that can provide this information on expiring, and expired, domains. One such website is DomDat.com . You should seriously consider using their services in order to find your quality expiring domains, as they can vastly simplify your search.
So concentrate your search for expiring domains that will receive visitors and are based on a subject that will be attractive to advertisers. Once you have found an expired domain, and registered it, you will then need to consider your options.
A quick and simple option is to sign up to a domain parking service that will show adverts and split the advertising income with you. It may be quick and simple, but it is probably not the most effective use of your domain.
Instead consider building a website based on that domain. This may seem a daunting task, but with the help of a good teach-yourself-HTML book, free website templates, and a little practice, you may surprise yourself how quickly you can put together a website. Good content, and lots of pages, can be the key to a successful website.
To have a website you need to host it. There are many cheap hosting options from around $10 per year. There are even companies that offer free hosting - but make sure that the free hosting package allows you to use your own domain name.
With your own website you are then able to show your own adverts, or sign up to services such as Google AdSense which will show adverts for you.
You can also add links from this new website to any other websites you own, thus further promoting your other websites.
Links to third party websites can also be sold. If your new website is of a high enough standard, paid-for links can provide a significant income.
Building your own website is a harder task, and may involve an outlay for the hosting, but the income you can derive should outweigh the extra costs.

Web domains and search engine optimization
Whether you are buying a new domain to develop and to sell, or whether you want to run it for the long-term as a money-making enterprise, you should think about the use of site optimization in the development process.
If it is to make your domain name more valuable for a purchaser with regular traffic to its pages, or for the sake of your profits (for which you also need regular, and hopefully growing levels of traffic), optimization is vital unless you are simply going to promote by pay-per-click.
Firstly, the myths. It is generally agreed among the top SEO commentators that key words in the domain itself have no effect on the results rankings of site pages. The days are long gone where search engine algorithms could be conned by simple tricks like creating a domain called buy-keyword1–keyword2.com. The internal page names, if they include keywords, may have some effect, though this too is doubtful.
So, when selecting your new domain name, you shouldn't be concerned when you find all the top domains are already registered. The search results will show the domain name to those searching, but that is the only possible advantage of keywords in a domain name.
Another myth is that using pay-per-click on your new domain will get it picked up, get the spiders in, and give it a push up in the search engine rankings. This has been shown to be just not the case, and is the result of wishful thinking.
Acquire incoming links from other sites, and the spiders will arrive soon enough.
Include useful content, and the search engines will learn to love you. If you can't think of original content, get a writer who can. The shortcuts to collecting web content – scraping that of others, lifting pages from directories, and all the gray and black hat techniques either don't work or will just set your site up for 1000th place in the listings.
Don't worry about keyword density, just focus your pages on a natural, coherent subject. In fact, do not think about the search engines at all. Your goal should be to give something really dood to your real audience – your human visitors.
Trying to validate your new site to W3C standard is a complete waste of your time. Any search engine would have to exclude 99% of the web from its results if it used this as a ranking technique. Use the time saved to create new pages.
Don't pay to place your new domain in paid directories, or directories selling PR-based links. In the past this worked, but the search engine algorithms no longer give much weight to tricks like this. Just consider – a rich company could buy its way to the top of the listings for every phrase it wanted, if buying links actually worked: and it would eliminate the value of the search engines to their users. This is precisely Google and the other engines want to prevent at all costs.
OK, the search engines can still make errors. Some sites, however good and original their content and however prolific their incoming links, just never get anywhere in the search results. Get another domain and move on.

The long and the short of domain names
There are many ways to go about choosing a domain name for your website. There are also many experts who populate the Internet with sound advice on how to choose the best domain name available. ‘Available’ being the key word in that sentence. If you can think of it, chances are someone else already has and they’ve beaten you to the registration desk.
The list of good, memorable, effective and available domain names is shrinking all the time. We have domain name prospectors or speculators to thank for that. These enterprising individuals spend a great deal of time creating and buying brilliant and powerful domain names so that they can resell them at a much higher price.
You can bypass them by creating a domain that’s unique and accurately reflects your company. There is general consensus on what constitutes an effective and memorable domain name, although as with all fields of expertise, differences of opinion do occur.
Domains should be short, except when long ones represent your company or enterprise more accurately. There are many different opinions regarding this particular point, some experts say that you should strive for a two-word domain and that three words is pushing it. Others contend that you should aim for around 10 characters with a maximum of 20. Names of fifty characters are considered too long. They all agree that shorter names reduce the risk of searcher misspellings and confusion.
Chistopher Heng, from thesitewizard.com, differs from most other experts by saying that long domains are easier to remember than short ones. Sites with abbreviated names, or with names comprised of seemingly unrelated letters, are more difficult to remember than sites that use their full company names. He adds that in terms of SEO, long names with keywords in them provide better results in search engines.
The most important thing to remember is that your domain name must be meaningful to you and to your users.
Extensions are also very important. Internet users consider sites with dot-com extensions to be more reliable and professional than other sites. It’s also the extension that most searchers use when they have to guess. As a result it’s extremely popular and can be difficult to get in combination with your name of choice. Dot-com extensions are advised for businesses that trade internationally.
Country specific extensions such as .co.uk (the United Kingdom), or co.za (South Africa) are especially effective for sites with local interests. The dot-net extension is typically used for technology websites, while dot-info relates to informative sites. Whatever extension you decide on, always market your full domain name, including your extension, otherwise searchers might guess incorrectly and end up on your competitor’s site.
The importance of domains cannot be over-emphasised. It’s the avenue through which people find you online. It’s what they use when they talk about you to others and it’s what they remember. Try and match your domain name to your brand name, but if you can’t do this, your domain should at least describe what you do. If neither of those options is possible, try to create an interesting and catchy domain that’ll stick in people’s minds. The danger with interesting or offbeat domains is that people tend to be suspicious of them. A judicious use of quirkiness, however, will go a long way toward cementing your site in a user’s mind.
Over 100 million domains have already been registered. More are being registered all the time. What are you waiting for?

Making money from domains
There are two main ways that you can make money from domain names - you can either use a domain name that means something (eg business.com) or you can use a domain that gets a lot of visitors. It may surprise you to learn that these domain names are not necessarily the same thing.
Most of the domains which are a word or phrase are already taken. To get a domain that means something you need to think latterly, think ahead and register a domain name before anyone else thinks of it. For example, in the boating world there were yachts, then super yachts, and perhaps now mega yachts - so if you can think of what the next term will be, then it may be worth your while registering the domain and waiting for a few years until the term becomes widely used. If you get it right then you may well be the owner of a domain name worth a lot of money.
The other way of making money with domains is to get a domain name that already has a lot of visitors, and then monetizing the domain - normally through advertising. This can be a lucrative business for those with the knowledge of how to find well visited domains and I will now try to explain how these domains come about, and how you can find them.
It is important to realize the distinction between a domain name, and a website. A good analogy is to think of the domain name like a telephone number, and the website as a company. When you call the telephone number you get to talk to someone at the company, which is similar to when you enter a domain in an internet browser you get to see the underlying website.
Imagine a sales company starts up, promotes its telephone number, and then at a later date the company ceases to trade. People will still be calling the telephone number even though there will be no one to answer it. If you were in competition with the original company, it could prove lucrative to have their old telephone number redirected to your company.
Domains and websites work in a similar way. A domain name gets registered, a website gets built, and then the domain/website is promoted all over the internet, sometimes with thousands of links pointing to it, which results in thousands of visitors. But a domain name can only be registered for a set period of time and at the end of this period the owner can chose to renew the registration. However, domains don't always get renewed, so the domain becomes available again to be registered by anyone else.
These domains are called expiring domains (or expired after they become available to register again). If you can find an expiring domain that has been well promoted then you will have the opportunity of registering that domain, and making money from it. So the trick is to find these valuable domains. You need to find domains which are about to become available again, and then figure out how many links are pointing at each domain - in general the more links pointing at a domain, the more visitors a domain, and hence website, is going to get. This can be a lot of work, but there are websites that can provide you with this information. One such website is DomDat.com which not only provides you with the linking information, but also lots of other data, and can also send you regular emails listing expiring domains that match your criteria.

Why Giving Away Free Domain Names?
Perhaps you already know that it is possible to get a free domain name. However, have you ever wondered how a country can afford to give away its domain names for free? Why would a country just give away its domain names instead of charging for them?
1. Free Domain Names from Dot TK
It is possible to get a free top-level domain name from Dot TK.
According to their website, "Dot TK is a joint venture of the Government of Tokelau, it's communication company Teletok and Taloha, Inc., a privately held company. The Government of Tokelau has appointed Taloha, Inc. as the exclusive registration entity."
Of course, for free .to domains, ownership remains with Dot TK. This means that you can't sell it. As well, there are other restrictions and disadvantages of free .to domains, including:
-You can register only a maximum of three free domain names;
-You need 25 visitors within a ninety day period;
-You need to have existing web content somewhere so that your dot tk name can be forwarded to it; and
-Dot TK uses frames to show your website. This being the case, you may have issues with navigation (bookmarking or finding specific pages) and search engine friendliness.
For serious business use, you might want to pay the nominal cost for a domain name.
2. Why Do They Offer Free Domain Names?
Still, it is free. Why would they do this when they could make money from the sale of domain names?
According to their website: "Why does Dot TK give away free domain names? We believe that the Internet was supposed to be 'Free'. Meaning no charges, payments or expected return favors."
3. How Can They Afford to Give Away Free Domain Names?
This logically leads us to our next question: How can they afford to give away free domain names?
Dot TK makes money from paid domain names, including some special and trademarked names.
To help support Dot TK, you can optionally have an ad displayed on your website. Thus, they do receive some advertising revenue from this. However, the big money would be in the sponsorship by large corporations.
4. Other Free Top-Level Domain Names
By the way, this is not the only ccTLD (country code Top-Level Domain) that gives away some domain names for free.
As just one example, cg is the ccTLD for the Republic of Congo. Each of its citizens and lawful residents are allowed one free .cg domain name.
5. Free Subdomain Names
Additionally, subdomain names are also available for free. For example, eu.org states on their website that their goal "is to provide free subdomain registration to users or non-profit organizations who cannot afford the outrageous fees demanded by some NICs, especially in Europe."
As well, nr is the ccTLD name for the Republic of Nauru.
Why do countries give away free domain names? They want their citizens and others to be able to enjoy the benefits of domain name use without cost being an issue. It can also be a promotional method designed to get the word out about their ccTLD.
How can these countries afford to give away free domain names? Advertising revenue and the sale of paid domains are two ways of funding free domain names.

You Need To Know About Domain Names
Many people settle with just one domain name, without realizing that your domain is one of the few things that your competitors can't copy from you. This is why I always recommend to buy multiple domain names, so that they are no longer available on the market. Buying a domain used to be expensive, but nowadays you can get a .com domain for a few bucks a year.
Before you buy a domain, consider how you customers will search for you on the internet. Unless they already know you, they won't search for your company name. They are going to look for the solution to a problem they have. If they are afraid of speaking in public, they could search for "speaking in public", "learn how to speak in public", etc. Why not buying a domain such as speakinginpublic.com or learntospeakinpublic.com?
Having your main keywords (those that people use when searching for your products or services) in your domain is important if you use Adwords but also if you rely on free traffic from the natural search results. And here is why...
Buying and using a keyword-rich domain name in Adwords is a great strategy for three main reasons. First of all, the domain name is the only part of your ad that your competitors can't copy. Secondly, if the user searched for any of the keywords contained in your domain name, those are going to be displayed in bold: this makes your ad stand out from the crowd.
And last but not least, having a keyword-rich domain usually increases your Click-Through Rate: you are going to get more traffic to your website and be charged less for each click, because Google rewards you for having achieved a higher CTR.
If you are doing Search Engine Optimization, you must buy a domain that contains your main keyword. This is in fact one of the various factors that can influence your ranking in the natural search results.
Since domains are so cheap, you can even decide to buy one when you are advertising in any kind of media, both online and offline. Why? Because by using a unique domain name that redirects to your main site, you can track exactly how much traffic was generated by that ad. And you can tailor that domain name to the main topic of your advertisement.
If you have an online store and you want to promote LED lamps, you can buy ledlamps.com and use that domain in your ads.
So how do you know if the domain you want is still available? You go to type your domain name, make sure ".com" is selected and click on Search.
Do you need to buy your domain from your hosting company? No, you can buy it at namecheap.com and then modify the DNS settings to point it to your hosting company servers. Does this sound too technical for you? Don't worry, I recorded a step-by-step video tutorial that teaches you how to do just that. Click on the link you see at the end of this article.
What if the domain you want is not available? In that case, the first thing I would do is to look for the singular/plural alternative. If bluewidgets.com is taken, maybe bluewidget.com is still available.
Another strategy is to separate the words in your domain with a dash: blue-widgets.com.
Still no luck? Try using extra words in front of or at the end of your main keywords: cheap-blue-widgets.com, blue-widgets-direct.com.
Even though I recommend you to always get the .com extension, if all the strategies above produce no results, you can still go for a .net or .biz domain.
Now that you know how easy it is to buy a new domain but also how important it is to have the right domain for your market, you have no excuse for not starting your domains portfolio today!

Make Your Domains Work for You
Are you a creative person? Do you enjoy coming up with great business names?. Are you the "idea" person at work?. Then why not continue this creativity onto the internet.
More and more people are entering the world wide web, and it is becoming increasingly harder and harder to come up with a great domain name, especially with a “dot com“ at the end of it. If you go to such sites as Go Daddy, and try out your creative website name in a search, you will be amazed at how many times the search will come back "This name already taken". You have to really start thinking through your domain names.
For a great website, you need to start with at least an idea of what the website will be about, then come up with a great domain name. Think of some great niche's, think of the everyday things you do, and keep a notepad with you, just in case you come up with lots of great inspiring ideas. You could have a flash of brilliant ideas at work, only to lose them somewhere between your boss driving you nuts and coffee break, so write them down!
Once you have these great ideas for websites, get on your computer right away, and register those inspiring domain names, even if you have not got the time to start the actual website, at least you will have the name registered to you.
If down the road, you decide you don't want that name anymore, you can always sell it. But if you want your domain names to be working for you, at least while you think of a great website, there are sites that will let you "park" your domain name and possibly make some money in advertising.
If you are one of those creative people, who have come up with many domain names and have them registered, waiting for the day you get that great website going, at least make them working domains, and cash in on some advertising money while you wait. This is also a great way to find out, how inspiring those domain names really are. Take a look at any of the domain registry sites, and see about the domain parking possibilities for your future money making sites. There is usually a monthly fee, but if you have lots of inspiring domain names out there, it might be worth it.

Who has the Lowest Domain Price
Recently, domain registries VeriSign, Afilias, and Public Interest Registry (PIR) notified all ICANN-accredited registrars that they will be raising their wholesale prices. As a consequence, consumer domain prices will increase about 50 cents at most public domain registries such as Enom and Godaddy.com. Who has the lowest domain prices? We checked 10 different ICANN approved registrars in the US and got the following results -
Registrar, .com Price/yr, .net Price/yr:
BestBulkRegister.com, $7.60, $6.49
1&1, $6.99, $6.99
Estdomains, $7.19, $5.89(promo)
Domain Name Superstore, $7.85, $9.45
Hostway, $7.95, $7.95
aPlus, $8.40, $7.95
NameCheap, $9.29, $9.29
Yahoo! Domains, $9.95, $9.95
Active Domain, $9.95, $9.95
Go Daddy, $9.99, $10.99
Depending on what services you want, what extension you are looking for (.com, .net, .org, country extensions, etc.), and what domain name you wish to register, the prices will vary among registrars. The prices listed are for registering one .com and .net domain name for one year. Some registrars provide different services which means a variation in prices. For example, buying more than one domain name at a certain site can give you a special deal on prices. Some sites, such as Go Daddy, offer domain names for as low as $1.99 if you purchase a non-domain product or service from them (i.e. web hosting, SSL Certificate). Certain extensions will cost more than others, with .tm and .travel on the pricey side as you can see in the chart below. Registrars also often have sales and promotions on domains. Search around and see what services and sites best fit your needs.
The table below shows average prices for various TLDs
Extension, Average Price:
.WS, $14.11
.SH/AC/IO, $61.64
.TM, $157.53
.US, $16.24
.HK, $24.66
.INFO, $7.67
.NAME, $8.63
.WS, $14.11
.TW, $30.14
.TV, $40.55
.CC, $35.34
.MOBI, $15.48
.TRAVEL, $177.53
.ASIA, $18.95
Some sites cater specifically to those looking to buy in bulk, such as eNom.com and BestBulkRegister.com. At BestBulkRegister.com (www.bestbulkregister.com), you will find the lowest non-promotional price for a .net domain at $6.49 each. eNom.com offers different packages for those looking to resell domain names. eNom.com’s setup fees range from $195 to as much as $1,595 depending on the level of reselling. The sites listed above also have different prices for buying in bulk, but may not offer reselling tools and services.
Claiming and registering domain names can be inexpensive, and as the availability of domain names becomes more limited, the price of domain names on the resale market can be huge. JupiterRealEstate.com, a relatively ordinary domain name, recently sold for $17,500. Investors have taken note of the potential ROI on reselling domain names as some companies now offer financing for domain name purchases. Domain Capital, for example, claims to be “the first and only financial services company to offer financing to businesses based on the inherent and recognized value of premium domain names.” Financing is extremely helpful for those without the resources to buy high-priced domain names or a large number of domain names in bulk to resell. Scott Fish writes a good blog about reselling different types of domain names (http://www.scottfish.com/domain-prices-are-going-up-and-down/). In his article he explains his take on the market for Generic Domain Names, International Domain Names, Typo Domain Names, and other factors such as financing and the dissemination of knowledge.
Most .com domain names that have potential for high value, however, have already been registered. But there are other potential markets for investment, such as the new .asia TLD. Experts predict that the Asia-Pacific region will soon be the largest Internet market in the world, and the .asia TLD gives access and exposure to that market. As opposed to country code domains, the .asia is a TLD that gives exposure to the general region as a whole and separates country and political associations, thus making the domain generally more appealing for businesses. Prices are relatively cheap for .asia domains. BestBulkRegister.com (www.GoBBR.com), mentioned earlier, sells the .asia extension for $18.95 or less depending on volume. As such, .asia has the promise that .com’s previously had, but more knowledgeable investors and the option of financing blows the game wide open.

If you have a web based business or you have an online existence for you company, you will obviously look to generate higher number of leads for your business or generate direct sales. But for that it is very crucial that you website gets a decent amount of traffic.
Now, how to get that?
One of the most popular solutions and also the most effective one in most cases is search engine optimization or SEO. While you are offering a kind of product/service there are millions round the world searching for something or the other on the internet.
SEO helps you to target the ones who are interested in your kind of product/service and thus rout them to your website when they search for a particular term on a search engine like Google, Yahoo, and MSN etc. It is important to be at the top of the search results as most of the users do not go scrolling to the later pages, hence if you want the best conversion rates and the best traffic, search engine optimization is highly essential.
For any web based business SEO proves to be the best resource of advertisement as well because it is not as expensive as most other online methods like banner ads, PPCs etc. Other than the advertising that SEO can do for you it can also build the reputation of your website, as the page rank would also increase.
Once you have a good search engine ranking you can make a decent amount by providing space on your website and charging other webmasters for their banners which turn out to be an additional source of income for you as well.
While SEO is important for you to divert traffic to your site, it is also a way to prevent your existing customers churn away to a different competitor. In case your site is not optimized and the customer incidentally forgets the URL, you are in a mess as the customer is bound to look for the product/service in a search engine and a competitor’s website will pop up at the top. If he/she cannot find your URL on the first few pages, you have lost the customer.
If you have an online business, SEO is of utmost importance in order to build your customer base as well as maintain it at the same time!

How to Pick the Right Domain for an Online Business
Buying the right domain for a new online business is as important as the business itself, but most of people tend to ignore this fact. A perfect domain helps you achieve success with search engine rankings and also creates a brand for your business. Buying the wrong domain will make it harder to brand your online business. If you wish to build a profitable online business you need something that will clearly distinguish you from your competitors.
Here are some tips you should consider before selecting a domain for your business:
Use Keywords
Having a keyword rich domain name would be the first and most important step to starting your online business. Keyword rich domain names are among the most important factors which affect search engine rankings of a website and its exposure to the visitors. This will bring you search engine traffic; this traffic will buy from you or become leads for your affiliate programs. Having a keyword rich domain will help you with three important sources of getting traffic for your website, Organic Traffic, PPC (Paid Advertisements) and type in traffic. For example TradeShowItems.com will be the right domain to pick if you are selling trade show items. Not only it will help the owner achieve higher search engine rankings but also elaborate their business in its name only.
Ignore Hyphens
There is a common mistake that many people make when buying a niche domain, they use hyphens to separate their keywords. An example would be visit-american-beaches.com for a travel domain name. Now the problem with hyphens is that using them makes the domain name difficult to remember and hard to type. I remember a friend having an entertainment niche domain name and he had it announced over local radio. Instead of getting any big increase in number of visitors he received several complaints that his website went down or it's inaccessible. He later realized that it was because his domain name was too long and had hyphens in it, which made the listeners confused and they could not figure out the right way to spell the domain name.
Easy to Spell
Always remember when you select a domain that it should be easy to spell. You should know that many internet users are not great with spelling; therefore you should avoid such words which are hard to spell. Newyorkcityrealtyexpert.com for a real estate domain name may look good for SEO perspective but in reality who would remember such real estate domain names? A precaution now will save many investments on advertisements which you will need to teach people about, how to spell your website. The basic rule is picking up domains easy to spell and short enough to be remembered easily.
Now you know how to make the right choice of niche domain names for better search engine rankings and easy to remember. Keep these three rules in mind and you will never pick the wrong domain name again.

Top Tips For Choosing The Right Domain Name
Ask any online marketer what their domain name means to them, and they will automatically tell you that their domain name is their company's identity. It tells surfer everything they need to know: who they are? What they do? What their product/service can do for them.
It essentially acts as a summation of your company's web identity, so making sure you pick one that accurately describes you is vital.
For this reason we recommend that you pick something that is memorable, distinct and original. One that stands out from the rest in your product niche, but also at the same time efficiently reflects your company's products/service.
So how do you decide which is the right domain for you?
Well the first thing we recommend, especially if you are interested in incorporating SEO into your web design, is to pick a domain name that is SEO friendly.
But as with all things, this in itself can lead to more problems when it comes to choosing your domain. You see, you are just one of many companies online, who have undertaken the task of finding a URL that is SEO friendly.
So trying to find one that is distinct to your product niche and that has also been left untouched can be difficult. The competition is fierce.
But you can overcome this. You can offer your domain a uniqueness presence. Take the following details for example. Each can help make your decision easier.
Brand: as we said before your domain name is your websites identity. It represents who you are to the entire marketing sector and what you are trying to achieve as a company.
Saying this, your brand essence can also play an important factor in what domain you decide to choose.
All your brand is, is an extension of your company's identity. It is another means of allowing your surfers to recognise who you are and what you do.
So if for example you are a property investment teaching company, within your domain name it needs to mention the phrases 'property courses' or 'property investment.'
Length: which do you choose? A short domain name that is easy to remember and type into your browser or a long domain name that will enable you to incorporate SEO and explain your product?
Both of these have got their benefits. It is just a matter of deciding which one would best benefit your website.
One way you can have the best of both these worlds is to set a word restriction of up to 67 characters. By doing this, you can give your domain name just enough description length so that it is not obscured, but a clear cut off point.
Saying this, if you can keep your domain name to under 67 characters that will prevent surfers from making any errors when come to type in your domain name.
Hyphens: similar to the length of your domain names, hyphens can bring both its advantages and its disadvantages.
On the one hand, using hyphens can help you to get the domain you want whilst making your keywords more accessible to SEO e.g. propertyinvestment.com to property-investment.com.
But then on the opposite end of the scale, if surfers forget to include them, they could either be taken to another company's website, or they won't be able to find your website at all.
Domain name type: when picking your domain name you need to decide what you want your top level domain to be.
All a top level domain is, is your domain names extension for example .com, .net, .org, .us or .biz.
Now most companies choose to go for .com but there is nothing necessarily wrong with using any of the others we have mentioned above. In fact, with .com being such a popular domain source, it can be quite competitive to get your domain name with them so choosing one of the others could ensure you get the domain you want.
So take the time to decide what domain name best suites your website, and make sure you consider all the above pointers. Do that and you can offer your website the best in domain representation.

The Truth About Keywords in Domain Names
A question that comes up often is whether a company should be using a keyword rich domain name or not. While it may be a bit easier to get rankings with keywords in your domain, it might not always be the best choice. Before you make this crucial decision, ensure you know the benefits of each choice.
Building Brand vs Building Rankings
Before you purchase your domain name, you need to make the decision of what's more important - brand awareness or search engine rankings. It's not that you won't get search engine rankings if you choose brand awareness, it's just that it might take longer to get those rankings.
If you have a short, marketable company name, you likely want that company name well known in your niche. This doesn't happen overnight - it takes many years of promoting your company name everywhere that you promote your website. The rewards are priceless though. Imagine having people automatically mention your company anytime they discuss your niche.
If you have a longer company name or one that is less marketable, your brand awareness may not be as important. For such a company, you would be very happy just to be getting search engine rankings and traffic. Brand recognition may be more of a secondary goal to you.
The Search Engine Optimization Benefits of Keyword Rich Domains
Some people are under the impression that if you use a keyword rich domain name, you will automatically get rankings for that keyword phrase. While this may be true in an uncompetitive niche, it usually isn't the case. Having keywords in your domain name just gives a small rankings boost.
It is debatable whether search engines automatically give rankings boosts for domain keywords or whether the rankings boost is an indirect result. I am more inclined to believe that it is an indirect result. When you have good keywords in your domain name, a large percentage of your links would have your keywords in the link anchor text. Normally some of your links would go to less desirable anchor text such as your company name or url. Those links only give boosts for specific keywords if you have keywords in your domain. Think of all the links that require you to use your company or website name….web directories, industry publications, press releases, etc.
Although this boost may be a small one, you should be taking every bit of help you can in the battle to get rankings. On top of the rankings help, domain keyword usage also gets your domain name bolded in the search results. This can draw more attention and improve your click through rates.
The Downside of Keyword Filled Domains
There are cases where it is less advantageous to have keywords in your domain name.
In certain niches, this could make your url blend in with other competitors with similar urls. If your domain looks the same as another well ranked site, people may think they have already visited your site. You need to stand out.
With some keywords, it can look quite spammy to use them all in your domain name. Your url might look too long or the keywords might not apply to all of your offerings. This could severely limit your click through rates and conversion rates.
By using your keywords in your domain name, you may be making it extremely tough to develop brand recognition. Instead of always seeing your company name everywhere, people might instead just be seeing your keywords.
Conclusion
There is no right or wrong answer about what kind of domain name is better. It just depends on your goals and the details of your circumstances. You can get search engine rankings with virtually any domain name, but what domain is going to help your company the most?

The Strategies Of Long And Expired Domain Names
In the world of 21st century, it is no longer surprising to find that most business had already establishes a web presence to support their brick-and-mortar businesses. There are many advantages of establishing a web presence on the Internet such as selling globally to prospective customers and disseminating information to the public.
Most business owner would have already understood the importance of a web presence to their business. What most of them had failed to understand is that the domain name in their website can contribute significantly to their online marketing strategy.
First, we look at a few rules of a good domain name. Most would agree that a good domain name should:
1) be able to describe your business when people first look it.n2) include hyphen in between the words to make it easier to read.n3) have an appropriate .com, .net, .biz, .info, .org to reflect the nature of the business.
What I differ in opinion is that a long domain name can be as effective as a short domain name depending on the context where the domain name is used. Many people would definitely disagree with me on this point as they believe that a short domain name is easier to remember. However, a long domain name can be just as effective depending on the context where it is used.
And when the context is right, having a catchy long domain name definitely helps to draw attention to your business rather than promoting your website name as the company name, which is a usual practice, but remember this: customers don't care much about your company name or even your name until they can find the solution to their needs. That's why context is so important in aiding keyword research, and having the right keywords in your domain name for increasing appeal.
Thus, depending on the context where the domain name is used, a domain name can actually help to make or break your overall marketing performance.
On the other hand, buying expired or unavailable domains is a smart move. These are truly underrated traffic sources. It's like people going to a shop when it has already closed down and they suddenly teleport (redirect page) to your shop. Once you bought it, make sure the web host company doesn't own it (YOU own it) and you can always transfer the domain to a cheaper host. Do a search for 'purchase expired domains' and you get good leads.
People going to an invalid hair gel site are not going to buy an e-book on viral marketing, so you must buy domains with the right keywords related to your business.
And of course, those cyber-squatters who make a living out of buying and selling domain names (read: GOOD keywords) are playing a different ball game altogether.
